Looking for the best new comics this week? The Bound 4 You Comics Weekly Market Report for NCBD July 15, 2026 highlights the books that matter most, including Absolute Green Arrow #3, Captain America #13, What If...? Jessica Jones #1, creator-owned standouts, collector insights, and this week's best cover art.
Every Wednesday feels a little different.
Some weeks are dominated by blockbuster launches. Others revolve around a major first appearance or a headline-grabbing variant. Then there are weeks like this one, where the real story isn't a single comic—it's the continued strength of books that have earned readers' trust.
To me, that's when comics are at their best.
This week's market reflects that trend perfectly.
Let's take a look at the books that stood out.
One of the biggest changes I've noticed this summer is that consistency is beginning to outperform hype.
The Absolute Universe continues to build momentum because readers are sticking around—not because they're curious about another launch.
Marvel has several ongoing books quietly gaining loyal followings.
Even Image continues proving that creator-owned comics don't need massive marketing campaigns if the stories are good enough.
For collectors, that's encouraging.
Strong runs create stronger long-term demand than short-lived speculation.

This is the book I'm most confident in this week.
Issue #3 is often where a series proves whether readers are actually committed. Curiosity can sell a first issue. Momentum keeps readers buying the third.
That's exactly why this issue matters.
The Absolute line continues to be one of DC's biggest success stories, and Green Arrow has quietly become one of its most compelling titles.
If you've been enjoying this series, I think you'll be happy you stayed with it.

Sometimes the best comic on the shelf isn't the loudest one.
Captain America has become the Marvel book to read and Marvel doesn't have a lot of them lately. This Captain America run simply delivers solid storytelling month after month.
That's becoming increasingly rare.
The books readers recommend six months later are often books like this.

Every once in a while, a comic comes along that simply embraces how wonderfully weird this hobby can be.
That's Super Mondo Mega Mutts.
Not every recommendation has to be about investment potential or first appearances. Sometimes a comic deserves attention because it's creative, fun, and completely different from everything else on the shelf.
These are often the books people wish they'd picked up after everyone else discovers them.

The What If...? Line has been producing some pretty solid alternative universe stories for a long time now, and Jessica Jones has been a pretty compelling character for the MCU.
Could we see this version end up in the Spider-verse?
Unlikely, but you never know.
That's enough to keep it on my radar this week.
Speculation should enhance the hobby—not define it.
One of Image Comics' quiet strengths is letting great books build an audience over time.
Assorted Crisis Events is a perfect example.
By issue #9, a series isn't surviving on marketing anymore.
It's surviving because readers keep coming back.
Great indie books almost always age well because they're discovered organically.
If I had to pick 3 books this week
Absolute Green Arrow #3
Captain America #13
Dark Knights of Steel II #1 - Gerald Parel Cover

One of the better Absolute Batman homage covers I've seen, yes they are getting a bit overdone but I still like them.

Parel's painted style perfectly captures the medieval fantasy tone that made the original series so memorable. It's elegant without sacrificing impact.

These "Beefcake" DC Swimsuit covers always sell out.
One thing I've learned after years of collecting—and now running a comic shop—is that the best collections aren't built by chasing every hot book.
They are filled with books that have strong creative teams, loyal readers and have earned attention.
Until next Wednesday…
Add them to your box.
